Nick
grew up in Sapulpa Oklahoma and enjoyed playing basketball, riding motorcycles,
hunting and fishing. Nick and his family attended First Assembly of God in Sapulpa
and later became members of June Rose Assembly of God. In high school, through
the encouragement of his youth pastor Tony Lantz, Nick began to play electric
bass. After high school Nick decided to attend the University of Oklahoma.
During
Nick's freshman year at OU he began to build a relationship with Chi Alpha
campus pastor Greg Tiffany. From his sophomore year through graduation, Nick served
as praise and worship leader for Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. It was in Chi
Alpha where Nick personally witnessed God working miracles in the university community.
While attending OU, Nick experienced the call of God to move into full time ministry.
In four years he watched the OU chapter of Chi Alpha double, then triple in size.
Nick graduated with a bachelor's degree in business management with a minor in
marketing in December, 2000.
Nick
and Becky married on May 12, 2000. After marriage and graduation Nick worked
for Ford Audio-Video as a church consultant. While working, Nick received ministry
credentials through the Assemblies of God. All the while he prepared to move into
full-time Chi Alpha ministry.
In
2001, Nick enrolled in an internship: Chi Alpha's Campus Missionary In Training
(CMIT) program under the direction of Joe Zickafoose at Southwest Missouri State.
During his time at SMSU, Nick received theological training, led a Bible study
and went to Scotland for a missions trip.
Nick
is now the Chi Alpha campus pastor at Louisiana State University, the largest
university in Louisiana with over 32,000 students. He has a vision to see each
of those students reached with the message of Christ's salvation. Nick ministers
weekly at Chi Alpha's XA Live meeting, teaches leadership classes, and mentors
students who strive to live for Jesus.
Rebeccah
Sue (Gowdy) Callaway was born and raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma where she attended
June Rose A/G. Throughout high school she started on the softball and basketball
teams, was a member of the All-State choir, and was president of her high school
class. There was never any doubt about which university she'd choose: Becky was
born and bred a Sooner. She knew early-on crimson and cream were her colors.
Becky
joined Nick in leading the praise and worship at Chi Alpha during her first
year at OU . The next year she was on staff as fellowship coordinator and small
group leader. Becky and Nick both began to realize and pursue their passion for
campus ministry and the vision they felt God had given them. Experiences while
at Chi Alpha coupled with the influence of pastors Greg and Susan Tiffany changed
their lives.
Becky
is now the campus pastor at Louisiana State University, where she leads a
resource group for female leaders and shows other women how to follow Christ.
Becky mentors students, manages ministry finances and is a wonderful full-time
mom.
