 Fiji
Tom
and Kuulei O'Dowd

Tom
and Kuulei O'Dowd are Church of God missionaries appointed to Fiji. They have
a son, Tom, Jr. Kuulei is a native Hawaiian and was raised in the Catholic church.
However, she and Tom gave their lives to Christ in Kona, Hawaii in 1972.
Tom and Kuulei have been in cross-cultural ministry ever since being born again.
However, in 1984 they fully responded to the call of God to do missions work.
During
Bible College Tom and Kuulei became involved in short-term missions programs in
the Asian countries of the Philippines, Malaysia and Thailand. They also did work
in Jamaica. Tom and Kuulei pastored a 500 member church in Racolod City
in the southern Visayan Islands of the Philippines, which also has about five
satellite outreach ministries to about 400 people. Previously,
they served as missionary/pastor in the Philippines. They responded to God's call
to missions and became involved in short-term missions programs in the Philippines,
Malaysia, Thailand, and Jamaica before their appointment as missionaries. You
can have a part in the ministry of Tom and Kuulei by supporting them. Your prayers
and Spirit-directed support will do much for their ministry. |

The
Unreached Peoples Prayer Profiles Fiji The
Sovereign Democratic Republic of Fiji, located in the Pacific Ocean east of Australia,
consists of two larger and 110 smaller inhabited islands. The islands are mountainous,
and volcanic, with tropical rainforest and grasslands.
There
are intense ethnic confrontations between the indigenous Fijians and immigrant
Indians. The end of British rule in 1970, and the end of balance of the two main
peoples brought about military coups, resulting in the 1992 constitution guaranteeing
perpetual Fijian political dominance.
Fijians
embraced Christianity over a century ago, but this is often cultural rather than
spiritual. Being 80% Hindu, the Indians form the largest non-Christian community
in the Pacific. |
