was born in Michigan and raised in a Christian home. He dedicated his life to
the Lord in August of 1991. He was disciple through the ministry of Chi Alpha
at Central Michigan University and it was as a student that the Lord called him
into full-time ministry. He
graduated in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in German & History. As a student,
he was actively involved in the ministry through preaching, teaching, leading
worship, and evangelism on campus. He also traveled to Germany on short-term mission
trips and studied a year at the University of Heidelberg. Amy
was also born in Michigan and raised in a loving, Christian home. She sensed a
calling to ministry at a very young age and led many childhood friends to the
Lord. As a student at CMU, she majored in English and Speech Education, graduating
with a B.S. in 1998. She was an active student leader in the Chi Alpha group,
leading worship, discipline women and doing evangelism in the dorms. She is a
gifted musician and artist and has ministered through her music to the lost both
inside and outside the church. After graduating from college, Kirk moved
to Louisiana for an internship and God opened the door for a full-time ministry
position as a Campus Missionary with Chi Alpha at Louisiana State University where
he re-pioneered the ministry in 1997. Kirk and Amy maintained a long distance
relationship and were eventually married in Dec. of 1998. They have a little girl
named Mercy Claire. She was born March 5, 2001. She can clap, sing and likes to
lay hands on and minister to anything that she can put in her mouth. On July 12,
2004, their son Jackson Scott was born. Together they have ministered to thousands
of students from over fifty different nations. Their ministry is hallmarked by
worship, evangelism, cell groups and café ministry. They have a passion
for reaching today's generation of students in Germany. |
  Over
180 gathered with us during the Christmas break to celebrate the New Year and
to seek God for this generation. The city of Nuremberg, home of the ginger bread
cookie and also famous for the War Crimes Trials played host to our annual Winter
Conference, called SilvesterFreizeit.
Our
guest speaker this year was Psychology Professor and Campus Pastor from the Free
University in Amsterdam, Peter Roelofsma. The topic was Inner Healing for both
students as individuals and the entire campus. Peter's
research has revealed that over 60% of all European students suffer from depression.
This is a very sobering statistic. It also reveals the need for campus ministry
more than ever before to touch these hurting individuals. Many
students attending were also touched by the power of God and challenged to reach
their campus with the HOPE of Jesus. I
taught a workshop on "How to plant a student group" and eight students
attended it. The hope is that several of them will start a new group this coming
year across various parts of Germany. We
also received an offering at the conference for the victims of the Tsunami in
South East Asia. The students response was overwhelming. They gave over $5500.
Part of the money will go directly to a missionary who is an SfC Alumni ministering
now in Indonesia. Pray
for the next generation of leaders in Germany (pictured above). God desires to
restore the broken spirit of this nation and I believe He will use these young
people in the End-Time harvest |
