Annual Missions Emphasis

Last
Sunday evening, Covenant Community Church took the
first step in spreading God's fame to an unreached
people group! During our annual membership meeting,
we affirmed a call to adopt the Pinyin people group
of Cameroon.
The
Pinyin are about 26,000 people living in five villages
in the hilly country of Northwest Cameroon. Our course
to reach them is:
Adopt
we have taken on the responsibility of using
our available resources to see Scripture translated
into their language and a church planted among the
Pinyin.
Pray
we will mobilize our entire congregation
to daily intercede for the salvation of the Pinyin.
Bridge
we will form relationships with the Cameroon
Association of Bible Translation and Literacy (CABTAL)
and any others to become involved personally with
the Pinyin.
Translate
we will work with CABTAL to support and help
a translator do the actual translation of Scripture
into Pinyin.
Plant
we will work with a Cameroon pastor to plant
a church among the Pinyin.
I
am excited about our answering this call! This adventure
will deepen us in our faith. It will raise the level
of commitment of individuals within our church. I
anticipate a "cross-pollination" effect
as we are in closer contact with believers and unbelievers
in other cultures. Our networking as a church will
expand. Our relationships within the church will deepen
and broaden, as well, as we work together.
Since
Gods planning includes preparation, like the
Spirit hovering over the water, Covenant Community
Church will use the seven days of January 3rd through
January 9th to seek God to prepare us for His plan
of 2006.
God
has wonderful plans for you personally and for Covenant.
He has set into this next year His own surprises for
us all good surprises for those who treasure
Him! During these seven days we will corporately pray
and fast, asking God to do His preparation in our
lives and our church for whatever He has planned for
2006.
I
believe that this will be a significant week for all
of us. Put extra moments in the week in the presence
of God by praying, meditating on Him and His Word,
or sharing with others about the anticipation God
is putting in your heart. Also, I encourage you to
participate that week by fasting for a meal, a day,
or all week if you are able.
Be
sure to attend services January 1st as we devote our
lives for that following week to ask God to make us
ready for what exciting things He will be doing.
