Make us ready!
Preparing
us for His plan of 2006
Consider
that at creation the Holy Spirit hovered over the
waters before earth was formed (Gen. 1:2). Theologians
have seen meaning in this seemingly simple act. I
see it as a statement of God preparing to do His creative
work.
God
does everything with careful planning and execution.
Nothing is by chance with God. For that I am thankful.
I am also humbled by my weak ability to plan and then
do what I did plan. I take guilty comfort in quoting
to myself the adage about the best laid plans of mice
and men.
Since
God’s planning includes preparation, like the
Spirit hovering over the water, Covenant Community
Church will use the seven days of January 3rd through
January 9th to seek God to prepare us for His plan
of 2006.
God
has wonderful plans for you personally and for Covenant.
He has set into this next year His own surprises for
us all – good surprises for those who treasure
Him! During these seven days we will corporately pray
and fast, asking God to do His preparation in our
lives and our church for whatever He has planned for
2006.
I
believe that this will be a significant week for all
of us. Put extra moments in the week in the presence
of God by praying, meditating on Him and His Word,
or sharing with others about the anticipation God
is putting in your heart. Also, I encourage you to
participate that week by fasting for a meal, a day,
or all week if you are able.
Be
sure to attend services January 1st as we devote our
lives for that following week to ask God to make us
ready for what exciting things He will be doing.
