MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
March 2006

Pastor Jeff Stanfill

"I Thank God for You"

Shine the Light of Jesus in the darkness!

"I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy..." (Phil. 1:3-4a NIV).

Whether others recognize it or not, Central, Denham Springs, Baton Rouge, Walker, Watson and the surrounding areas are blessed by having within them believers like you who are part of Covenant Community Church! You are good citizens who take seriously civic responsibility. You are good neighbors to those around you. You see to the needs of your family and extended family members. You are diligent to fulfill all your financial obligations. Those are just a few of the things that make good communities.

Yet you do what good citizenship cannot accomplish. You have a preserving effect in society. That is what Jesus said when He called you "the salt of the earth" (Matt. 5:13). Living a morally pure life as you do according to biblical standards, helps prevent society from completely decaying.

You illuminate the way to a better life — an eternal life. Jesus said, "You are the light of the world." (Matt.5:14). The example you provide and the truth you embody points people to God Himself.

Salt and light is beyond good citizenship. It is Spirit-empowered, Bible-instructed, and life-transforming living that blesses others all around you.

I thank God for Covenant. I am thankful for the opportunity to be a spiritual leader among you. You are a fine church that is passionate for God and compassionate for others.

Pastor Jeff

Missions Report

The National Flag of Cameroon!

"I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me [Us!] strength, that he considered me [Us!] faithful, appointing me [Us!] to his service." (1 Tim. 1:12 NIV).

Those are my sentiments from our missions emphasis. We did enjoy wonderful missionaries and others who sharpened our focus and enflamed our hearts. We were responsive to the call to spread God's fame.

But beyond special services, banquets, dessert receptions, Faith Promises, partnering to bring the Bible to a Bibleless people, it is God who has given us the vision and strength to be faithful with what He has given us to do.

Be encouraged to monthly give the faith promise amount God provides for you. And daily pray for the Pinyin to receive the Bible and a vibrant church to be established that worships God in their language. And remember to give above and beyond all else in the "Pinyin House" (located on the back wall of the Sanctuary) for the Pinyin to come fully into the light from God's Word.
