MESSAGE
FROM THE PASTOR
November
2006
Pastor
Jeff Stanfill
As
a much younger person that was always curious and
wanted to learn, I struggled with why some churches
and Christians seemed to hold little regard for education.
Some seemed to value anointed ignorance!
What
resolved the struggle for me was noting that God had
chosen to record His revelation of Himself and His
truth in writing, but He did not create us to be born
with the skill to read that revelation. God has given
His written Word of which the understanding of it
only comes from being able to read. Some one must
teach us that ability.

Both
education and educating are important to God.
Therefore, they both should be important to
believers.
November
7th,our state and parish will make a decision
about forming an independent school district
in Central. The opinions and attitudes about
this decision are greatly varied. In light of
the importance of education to God, here is
how I will determine my vote:
|
-
Which school district will best give citizens and
children the ability to read the Word of God for
themselves if they so choose?
- Which
school district will best equip believing children
and citizens with the essential life skills so they
can spread Gods fame?
- Which
school district can best equip scientists with the
analytically skills necessary to think Gods
thoughts after Him?
- Which
school district will more likely develop doctors
with a high value for human life?
- Which
school district will teach young men skills that
will give them opportunity for employment to build
and support a family?
- Which
school district will provide the ability to learn
the necessary skills for young women to manage their
homes?
- Which
school district will most encourage civility among
us?
- Which
school district can best develop men and women for
leadership?
- Which
school district will provide the best role models
for young students?
While
there is more to consider, think about these things,
too. Be sure to cast a vote according to your best
judgment.
