"Surely
he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken
by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions,
he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon
him, and by his wounds we are healed." (Isaiah 53:4-5)
"When
evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove
out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what
was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried
our diseases." (Matthew 8:16-17)
"I
needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in
prison and you came to visit me." (Matthew 25:36)
"Send
the people away so they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and
buy themselves something to eat." (Mark 6:13)
"Is
any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him
and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith
will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned,
he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each
other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man "is powerful
and effective." (James 5:14-16)
"God
made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness
of God." (2 Corinthians 5:21)
"...and
who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God
by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 1:4)
"And
again, "I will put my trust in him." And again he says, "Here am
I, and the children God has given me." Since the children have flesh and
blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him
who holds the power of deaththat is, the devil and free those who
all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death." (Hebrews 2:13-15)
