Statement
of Faith 9.
The Church We
believe the Christian Church is the community of all true believers under the
Lordship of Christ. "And
God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything
for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in
every way." (Ephesians 1:22-23) "Consequently,
you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people
and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building
is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you
too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."
(Ephesians 2:19-22)
It
is the redemptive fellowship in which the Word of God is preached by men divinely
called, and the ordinances are duly administered according to Christ's own appointment.
Under the discipline of the Holy Spirit, the Church displays the character of
God and exists for the worship of God, the edification of believers, and to proclaim
the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ to all the world. Continue |
