The
Ten Commandments When
we speak about breaking the commandments of God, the first place to look when
examining your own life is the ten commandments that God gave to Moses. Moses
had led God's people out of slavery in Egypt, and God's first order of business
was to reorient the people to live by His rules so He could take care of them. These
commandments are not high and lofty edicts, but God's direction for living your
everyday life. Obedience to these rules will not only honor God as He deserves,
but will allow for His blessings and protection in your life.
|
| 1. | I
am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
You shall have no other gods before me. | | 2. | You
shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God. | | 3. | You
shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or
on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or
worship them. | | 4. | Remember
the sabbath day, to keep it holy. | | 5. | Honor
your father and your mother: that your days may be long. | | 6. | You
shall not kill. | | 7. | You
shall not commit adultery. | | 8. | You
shall not steal. | | 9. | You
shall not give false testimony against your neighbor. | | 10. | You
shall not covet your neighbor's house, you shall not covet your neighbor's wife,
nor his servants, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is your neighbor's. |
